Allspice, known by the Latin botanical name of Pimenta dioica, comes from the Pimenta tree and is the unripe fruit that is dried and crafted into different forms. Allspice is used primarily as a cooking spice. Most notably, it has earned its reputation as one of the most important ingredients of Caribbean cuisine. It is commonly used in jerk seasoning, pickling spices, curry powders, and can be found in desserts and cakes.
Allspice has a wide variety of uses in foods. It can be used in both sweet and savory recipes, and many different cultural cuisines apply it lavishly to dress their dishes. It can be added to gravy that is served alongside your holiday turkey or ham. Pork roasts benefit from a marinade that includes garlic and this spice, and Caribbean jerk recipes for beef and chicken often call for it. Spice cookies utilize it to give the sweets a bit of a kick, and it often makes its way into spiced nuts, along with sugar that caramelizes the spices around the nuts.

Pure Vegetable Glycerine 32 oz
Regular price $32.99 Save $-32.99Glycerine Bottle 32 oz
Ingredients: Glycerine.
Directions: Varies according to individual needs. Glycerine can be used for Extracts, Syrups & other uses. We encourage you to research information & preparation that works best for you. While we cannot cover every herbal preparation below is a few common methods.
Extract – This is an herbal preparation made by boiling the herbal agent in water & evaporating the strained decoction to the desired consistency. By this process, some of the more active principles of the medicinal herb are liberated from the useless insoluble, pulpy matter (which compromises the larger share of the bulk). The solvents used are alcohol, glycerine, water, etc. Make extracts at the lowest temperature possible, because, if care is not taken, many of the light balsam oils and precious ingredients can be lost. The preparation vessel should always be tightly covered until the extract is sufficiently cooled.
Syrup – Pour one pint of boiling water over two and one-half pounds of sugar, place on the hot stove & stir until the liquid begins to boil, & then instantly remove; this makes one quart of syrup, to which medicinal aids, one ounce of fluid extract, to three ounces of syrup may be added, adding two ounces of glycerine which has been mixed into two ounces of thick mucilage.
Store in a cool, dry place. Keep out of reach of children.
